Make Believe

Can you hear it?
The sound of flapping wings up high;
Can you hear it?
A growl echoing in the sky.

You’ve heard about them in stories
‘Bout castles, heroes and fairies,
Their great wisdom’s legendary,
Epic deeds write their glory,
It’s an honor to be their friend
And have them close till the end,
It’s a privilege to earn their trust,
So don’t let it turn to dust.

Can you see it?
A silhouette coming to you;
Can you see it?
A sight clear like morning dew.

Come closer and don’t be afraid,
Don’t stay there in the shade,
You have no reason to fear them
When they’re gentle as a poem;
They’re happy to meet someone new,
Someone curious such as you,
They’re willing to show kindness
And aid you in your sadness.

Can you feel it?
A body elegant and strong;
Can you feel it?
Movement delicate as a song.

Sense their strong tie with nature,
Their bond with every creature,
How they’re part of the grand show
More than you’ll ever know;
Learn from their sense of peace
And rebuild piece by piece
What others have destroyed
So you’ll know what to avoid.

Do you believe
In dragons living among us?
Do you believe
In their desire to protect us?

Then remember their great deeds
And go plant the seeds
From which their legends will grow,
Spreading out for all to know,
Don’t forget to nurture them
And you’ll receive a clear gem
Which you can carry with you
As a reward for what you grew.
